COMPLETED PROJECTS

EDUCATION :
In a novel initiative to improve education standards of tribal children, Sevalaya has set up 14 After-School Study Centres in tribal villages bordering Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The centres are equipped with smartboards, internet facility, audio-visual equipment, books and so on to bring the children up-to-date with modern education. These centres act as multipurpose centres where a number of educational and awareness activities are taken up to empower the students and the communities. Instead of expecting children to move out of their villages and tribes, we reach them and respect their space and culture. The children are provided with quality education completely free of cost. Nearly 200 children have been enrolled in these centres.

HEALTH CARE:
Sevalaya Nilgiris’ Mahatma Gandhi Hospital and its mobile medical vans offer quality medical services including medicines for free to the tribal population in and around Gudalur, Nilgiris. Sevalaya Nilgiris is today a ten bed hospital with full-time doctors, trained nursing and paramedical staff, with facilities including Casualty, Operation Theatre, Delivery Suite, Ultrasound Scanner, X- ray, Clinical Laboratory and a Pharmacy.
Through Mobile Medical Vans, a medical team with a doctor and nurse visits hamlets in 20+ remote tribal villages 5 days a week and treats patients who are unable to come to the hospital. Preventive vaccinations and general awareness on health, sanitation and hygiene are carried out.
OUR MEDICAL TEAM:
CHANGING THE LIVES OF 1,100 TRIBALS: Sevalaya Nilgiris also supports the tribal communities with periodic supply of nutritious provisions, clothes and blankets and materials for repairing their huts.
