Sevalaya Nilgiris, previously known as SEVALAYA SAMARITAN GRAMODHARAN SAMITHY (SSGS) is an NGO that works to improve the living conditions of the underprivileged, especially that of the tribal communities in and around Gudalur, The Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu, South India.

We run a free hospital and medical camps primarily serving the tribal community, skill development courses for targeted beneficiary groups and support tribal communities by providing their children with an education and supplying them with nutritious provisions, clothes, blankets and materials needed for repairing their huts.

Since 1st April 2021, Sevalaya Nilgiris has been a part of the Sevalaya group of organisations. 

Inspired by Mahakavi Bharathiyar, Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda (BGV), Sevalaya (www.sevalaya.org) is a registered charity, functioning since 1988. 

Headquartered in Chennai with presence across Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Dharmapuri, Mayiladuthurai, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi and The Nilgiris districts in Tamil Nadu, parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Sevalaya provides free schooling, after-school classes for children and vocational education for youth, runs healthcare and rural development projects, homes for destitute children and elderly, organic farms and  gaushalas. All services are rendered free of charges without any discrimination.
