Sevalaya Nilgiris Celebrates World Tribal Day: Blankets & Tailoring Machines Distributed to Tribals
Sevalaya Nilgiris organised World Tribal Day celebrations on 8 and 9 Aug 2026 at the
Theppakadu Elephant Camp within the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, The Nilgiris.
R Vidyadhar (IFS), Field Director, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, was the Chief Guest. Forest
Range Officers Ramar, Sivakumar, Bhaskar and Mudumalai participated.
As part of the celebrations, Free sewing machines were distributed to 5 tribal women to support
their livelihoods, while blankets were distributed to 100+ tribal residents of Theppakadu.
The event also featured performances showcasing the traditional art, culture and heritage of the
tribal community. More than 200 people, including tribal residents from Theppakadu and
surrounding areas, as well as tourists, participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
